Overcoming Writer’s Block: How to Find Inspiration in Everyday Moments and Odd Places

I was struggling to come up with ideas for my writing. Despite my best efforts, I had nothing to show for it. Feeling guilty for wasting time reading a novel instead of working on my craft, I decided to brainstorm. But the writer’s block persisted.

 

Just as I was about to give up, I realized I had neglected the most important source of inspiration – my faith. After confessing my sins and seeking guidance, I asked God to flood me with ideas. And flood me He did!

 

The next day, ideas started pouring in from the most unexpected places. My hall-mate’s kindness inspired a short story title, “Fadams the Ever-Gracious Hostess.” A girl’s unusual outfit on campus sparked another idea, “High Heels on the Express.” Even our lecturer’s quirky attire and announcement about his wedding anniversary inspired a story, “Professor Cupid.”

 

As the day went on, I found inspiration in everyday conversations and observations. I wrote down 28 short story titles and two poem ideas. It was a breakthrough moment, and I realized that ideas are all around us, waiting to be nurtured
